"TED" Pilot Officer A.E.T Eglinton November 16th 1923 - November 11th 1944
FOR REMEMBRANCE
November 16th 1923 - November 11th 1944
How often have we heard small girls and boys, reluctant, though obedient bid "Good night"; consign to adult care their best loved toys, and plead for just a tiny bedroom light? And we have promised to protect and love their precious toys until they re-awake; and bought a light, prayed blessings from above, made guardians of our souls for their sweet sake.
Oh! Mother Empire, do you less than this for all your children sleeping 'gainst your breast? They fell asleep knowing your farewell kiss, hearing your vow that they indeed might rest. They were so young; they gave into your care that which they held most precious during life - the ideals of their Youth, brave, loyal and fair. To sow the seed of peace - they furrowed hard with Strife.
Hark! can you hear them, noble children these, obeying their loved mother's "Say good night"? Down, Mother Empire, on your grateful knees and place the torch of Peace beside them, for their light.
