My war started late, when I was posted via the Middle East to Aden. By this time the war had just finished and I was sent along with 49 other WAAFs in the bomb bay of an American Liberator bombers to a new life that lasted 1 and a half years.
It was hot and sticky especially in the offices at steamer Point but I nearly enjoyed the time spent where the sun always shines.
Memories, I have many, work was hard, but we had lots of fun, swimming every day, music at Sheba鈥檚 Wells. With about 2000 Army and RA personnel to our 50 WAAF there was the odd wedding. I met my husband Jack there although it was 1949 before we were married in Streatham London. I left Aden to return to the Canal Zone before returned to Blighty to eventually being demobbed.
