This story has been added to the website by 大象传媒 CSV Producer Nina Davey on behalf of the author Jessie Power. The author understands the site's terms and conditions.

I was on Hayle Towans with my sister in law, Noni Power. She was a Sergeant in the WAAF. We saw a plane drop what looked like a parachute over St Ives, but she recognised the plane as German and realised it was in fact a bomb. Noni began to shout at everyone to take cover and lie down. After dropping the bomb the plane came across Carbis Bay Beach and Porthminster Beach strafing people with bullets. Noni manged to get everyone to safety but I couldn't find my son Trevor. He was in the toilets on the Towans. I was rattling on the door shouting to him and a soldier inside said "Go away Mrs, this is the gentlemen's toilets MEN ONLY!" I shouted a bomb had dropped and Trevor came out with his trousers round his ankles. The soldier raced out to his lookout on the beach.

Noni was running with the pram and a spitfire appeared over the Towans and shot the German plane down over Mounts Bay. It then returned across the beach doing a victory roll.
