I am David McGrath, my mum is Marie McGrath. She still lives in Crosby. During the war she was a young teenager. A group of Italian Prisoners were held at Little Crosby hall, where they helped on the farms. I think my mum had a soft spot for some (or all) of them as she still talks about them from time to time.

She also says she will never forget the sound of the engines of the German bombers coming overhead on their raids to Liverpool. Apparently the sky was lit brightly by the fires and could be seen for miles.

I used to go bird watching on the sea front between Crosby and Hightown the rubble that I thought was great habitat was where all the bomb damaged buildings had been cleared to.
