When we were a bit short our Gran used to take a bundle to the pawn shop to get money for food. It was usually one of the mens' suits. The man in the shop never used to open the package becaue he was so used to her, and she always used to go and fetch it back on the Monday when she had some money. One week she had nothing to take so she wrapped up a pig's head in the brown paper and string, took it to her usual pawn shop, and this time never went back for it. She never even went back to that shop - she started using a different one.
