On the night of 22nd November 1940 an air raid in Hockley Garage caused a fire, during which my father F C Bonehill volunteered to remove buses. For this action he was awarded one guinea.
On the night of 11th December incendiary bombs fell on premises adjacent to Barford Street Garage. My father assisted in extinguishing these bombs, for which action he was again awarded one guinea.
Throughout the war my father was a foreman at Barford Street Garage and the awards were made by Birmingham City Transport
