You used to go out in the blackouts, and never worry - you just weren't frightened.
My boyfriend was taking me home and shrapnel was coming down. He pushed me down on the grass. He was a sea-going marine.
If you saw a queue, you used to join it - you didn't know what you were queuing for.
I had a 3 tier wedding cake made with dried egg. It went off in the end because my boyfriend didn't get home in time.
