A Daytime Raid - 1940

There was a tremendous noise of plane engines and bombs, when we emerged all seemed peaceful as far as we could see.
However there were bombs at each end of the housing estate. Our doctor spoke of the terrible injuries he had to deal with.

The planes were probably Dorniers or Stukas they were the ones normally used to dive-bomb the French refugees.

I have painted other pictures, a series on the escape of a zebra from London Zoo, when the enclosure was bombed and pursued through Camden until recaptured by the keepers.
