I lived in Saxmundham in Suffolk. I remember we took in evacuees. We started with a mother and her two children, and later had a boy on his own. When he got married, he came back to us on his honeymoon.

My husband was in the army, where he worked as a driver. He was particularly involved in picking up crashed pilots.
