Wartime memories as told to David G. Orr.

Lillias (born 6 September 1933) was aged 6 when the war began
The family came to Caddam Farm in 1932 from Howmuir.
Her father had remarried.
Lillias went to school at Webster鈥檚 Seminary and can recall no interruption in her schooling because of the War, Life in Kirrie seemed to go on as normal.
She remembers Prisoners of War from Balharry Camp being delivered by truck to work at her father鈥榮 farm 鈥 Italians & Germans.
The Italians (locally known as 鈥楾allies) were regarded as lazy compared with the Germans and always looked for an excuse to stop working such as when a drizzle came on they would say 鈥渢oo mucha rain today!鈥
She remembers no trouble with the Prisoners of War except when a torch was lost her father blamed the POW鈥檚.

She also remembers her only fright during the war was when a bomb was dropped at Philpie on a chicken shed. Her father told her to stay in the house and hide under the stair
