There was a lone German fighter plane - he came up Old Market, firing his guns at just anybody. My dad was on leave and was walking along one side of the road. There was 3 girls on the other side - as my dad saw him coning he could see he was going to aim at these girls. He ran from one side of the road to the other and pushed the 3 girls into a doorway. They were safe. They got up and thanked him, and the four of them walked away.
