I suppose it must have been May 8th (VE Day). I was just 5 years and 5 months old then, and I remember distinctly that another boy ran into school and said: "The War's over - but the Japs think it's still going on!" Shows really how little we understood of the reality of the situation, but also expresses the excitement we felt at the end of the War in Europe.
