"This story was submitted to the People's War site by a volunteer from Gloucester on behalf of Mary from Leckhampton, Glos and has been added to the site with her permission. Mary fully understands the site's terms and conditions".

I was about three years of age. The sirens went and I was waiting for my Dad, who was in the Navy. I clung to the railings and Mum could not shift me, as I was waiting for Dad. I remember the bombs and the planes heading for Plymouth, where a lot of Bombs were dropped.
I remember my Mum dressed me up as Brittania, when we had the street parties at the end of the War.
