I volunteered for the RAF in 1942 at the age of 18. Posted to various locations and eventually ended up in London and was engaged in taking intelligence tests for recruits to the service. After being bombed out of London we moved to Torquay. At the end of the War I volunteered for service overseas and flew out to Naples in an old Lancaster Bomber, from there to Nadine where we assessed personnel ready for civilian life. It was here that I met my future husband who was also at that time in the RAF. I served a short period in North Africa and on return to the UK in 1946 was married.
