I was 13 years old when War was declared3.9.1939
on a Sunday and i can remember going to our niegbors at 11 am and we were all lisening to the wirless and then the air raid warning sounded , we all dashed down the stairs then becauce we had no shelters to go too. it was about 6 months later we all got stuck in and built our ANDERSON SHELTER and we spent a lot of nights in them and in the mornings us boys would go out looking for shapnel and burnt out fins from the incendary bombs. and then we would swap them ..
