I was born in Coddenham and was a War Bride, marrying on 11th November 1939.
My husband, Tom, joined the Army and I was pregnant when he went to war. Tom
was in the Suffolk Regiment and spent most of his war in a Japanese prisoner
of war camp. I could only send 15-word cards to him, c/o Japan, and was
overjoyed when he came back in 1945. My son, Michael, saw him and said:
'Hello Tom'.

One day during the War I was over at my mum's house in Coddenham when some
German planes came over. I thought they were going to shoot at me so I ran
into the shed.
