whilst you were celebrating VE day my ship mates and I were still at war in the Pacific on flag ship HMS Formidable, which suffered attacks from the Japanese kamikaze aircraft.The ship spent the last part of 1945 and most of 1946 serving as a hospital ship transporting Australian,Indian and British troops that had been freed from Japanese prisoner of war camps back to their home countries.
Never forgetting 365 ships company and air crew who did not return
