General Bernard Montogomery meeting the Canterbury Boys at Carlyon Bay Hotel.

In 1940 Mr Pear decided that it was time to evacuate the boys from Canterbury, St Edmund's Junior School to Cornwall. They were housed in the Carne Hotel St Blazey.

The boys continued with their training under Canon George Sage with lessons in the Deanery and doing evensong. They also did various performances whilst in Cornwall. During their stay they met General Montgomery

Before their return to Canterbury the Lloyds of Boscastle presented them with a silver cup as a thank you for their performances and as a reminder of their stay in Cornwall.
