I served in the RAF and had a wonderful time. I got to travel all around the world. I was three years in the RAF. I travelled to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), India and Egypt among many others. One day when I was in Egypt we had the day off and I went to the pyramids. We weren’t supposed to but I saw no one was looking and went round a corner and put my initials on one of the pyramids — ‘TAC’. It was a crime and very risky — I would have got into a lot of trouble if I had been caught. I went on holiday recently and its not there still! I was a wireless officer in the RAF and flew on a York airliner — they were class 1 and really nice.
