I was about twelve years old and I remember soldiers living in the houses in Whitton Church Lane. My friend and I used to eat their buns which they gave us. I remember my friend saying that she used to fancy them.
Tanks were kept outside my mum鈥檚 house in Shakespeare Road and I remember balloons up in the sky. There was an air raid shelter on a piece of land next door to my mums when the sirens went off.
My Auntie was pregnant at the time and when the sirens went off once my mum tried to push her under the bed but she didn鈥檛 fit.
