This lady has recently been given the letters sent between her parents during the war. The family lived in Aylesbury but the husband was based in Kent. She remembers her father didn't like the 'army issue' underwear and preferred to wear his own underwear and send this home every week for his wife to wash and return to him at camp. To make the army think he was wearing the regulation issue underwear he still sent it (unworn) every week to the laundry.
Everyone would assume that his wife received gifts every week from her husband.
