It was 1942 or 1943 I can't remember I was only about ten back then, but what I do remember is having great fun and excitment watching all the bombers overhead in combat warfare. On hearing the airaid sirens we used to run from school as quickly as our legs would take us & straight home I say straight home we did get into trouble with with a local 'Bobby' once who sent us off with a flee in our ears for not getting home quick enough!
Also we were sent to Lincolnshire and I remember geting the train from Derby station and only one platform being open this was due to bombing near Midland Road, derby.
