My neighbours, Mr and Mrs Knot had an evacuee called Ken Smith. We became great friends, going to school together and fishing. We used to get into all the usual kid trouble. He had a sister but she wasn't evacuated with him. As far as I can remember he stayed with the Knots until the end of the war but unfortunately we lost touch.
