It was in the Summer of 44.I, together with fourteen other boys were at our desks, struggling with our School Certificate Exams.I was feeling brighter.I had had a good nights sleep,(only two "Alerts"),and after all the war was going to be over very soon, we were told.
I'm not sure, but I think I was halfway through the morning History paper when the sirens went again. "Carry on boys" the master said, so after a quick look round at the other boys,I returnd to my papers.
We had heard it before, many times, but the buzz got louder and louder, and it kept on coming. "Get under your desks" we were told. We held our breath and waited for the buzz to stop, but it didn't, and it went flew on towards Hounslow. "Alright boys, get up and carry on", and that's what we did.
Exam stress, what exam stress!
