This story was submitted to the People's war site by Louise Angell of the CSV Action desk at 大象传媒 Radio Derby, on behalf of Mr. Arthur Bower. The authour fully understands the sites terms and conditions.
My father was in the ARP during the war.I would have been about 10 or 12 years old. I remember the gas masks first being issued and helpig dad and his colleagues giving them out at the local infant school. After a while we had to go back and put on either a green extension, or green tape, something to do with stopping the gas. I don't remember the details of that too well.
