I was 15 and with my aunt in my garden when saw a flying bomb with its engine cut out diving
towards our road. Pushed my Aunt who was down on
holiday and never seen a flying bomb into the
shelte. The bomb fortunately veered around in
an easterly direction towards the station and
fell in a road on the east side of Petts Wood.
I believe some people were killed but not sure.
The time was about 4pm in afternoon when people
were about returning from London

Served in RAF as a national Serviceman in signals
1947-49. Never sent abroad though wanted to go
as some of my friends went. Served in the west
country and trained as a signalman at Compton Bassett in Wiltshire
