Sister oona fascinated me when she said that they dug a long tunnel around one of the white cliffs of dover so they could be safe and so they could sleep.
The tunnels would be about 30ft deep and you would have to take your bed everywhere you would go especially when you would wake up because if you left it when you would leave,it would be soaking by the time you came back.

Some people used to sleep in train stations. The local councils tried to make it a little more comfortable by installing more bunks,toilets providedand and refreshments made available.
The people sleeping in Swiss Cottage Station had to travel by train to Finchley Road Station to find and use a proper toilet.
