My brother Flight SGT Terence Ashworth. 1943.Torquay.
My Hero
My brother was a hero
Not recognised as such.
A member of an aircrew
Who fought the foe for us.
A sportsman and musician
His talents were well known.
No happier person ever lived
His personality glowed.
His friends of course were many.
Enemies were few.
Anyone in trouble
He would see what he could do.
I never thought on his last leave,
I would see his face no more.
Buried in an air-mans grave
On a foreign shore.
I cherish his memory dearly
And the smile which last I saw.
To benefit our country
A victim of the war.
A hero of Great Britain
He gave his dear life
Just one of the many
To make such sacrifice.
