A SISTER’S PRIDE

My brother George Stratford was a prisoner of war and spent his time in Italy and later was taken to Germany after the Germans had taken over. He later worked in a coal mine in Poland.

As the war was coming to an end the Germans used to keep the prisoners on the move called the ‘Black March’

When they were liberated, he discovered his school friend who had also been a prisoner in Germany. They just by chance met waiting for the plane to bring them home.

We watched proudly as they marched down Lascelles Road together!

A thankful and happy day for everyone.
