Have you ever wondered what food was like on board a ship during the war? Here's part of the menu from HMS King George V for the week ending June 13 1942.

SUNDAY:
Breakfast: bacon and egg
Dinner: tomato soup, roast pork, potatoes, cabbage, apricots and custard
Tea: m eat paste
Supper: lettuce, beetroot, salmon, coffee
MONDAY:
Breakfast: sausage and tomato
Dinner: pea soup, roast mutton, potatoes, marrowfat peas, rice pudding
Tea: radishes
Supper: cheese, pickles, cocoa
TUESDAY:
Breakfast: Fried Fillet of Fish
Dinner: Vegetable Soup, Cold Ham, Salad, Potatoes, Apple Charlotte and Custard Sauce
Tea: Marmalade
Supper: Cornish Pasties, Cocoa
WEDNESDAY:
Breakfast: bacon and beans
Dinner: Lentil Soup, Roast Beef, Potatoes, Cabbage, Manchester Tart
Tea: Watercress
Supper: Egg and chips, cocoa
THURSDAY:
Breakfast: fried sausages, gravy
Dinner: Pea Soup, Preserved Meat, Salad, Potatoes, Pineapple and Custard
Tea: Jam
Supper: Macaroni Cheese, Cocoa
FRIDAY:
Breakfast: Liver and Tomatoes
Dinner: Vegetable Soup, Steak Pudding, Potatoes, Cabbage, Rice Custard
Tea: Lettuce
Supper: Sea Pie, Cocoa
SATURDAY:
Breakfast: Bacon and chips
Dinner: Gravy Soup, Roast Beef, Potatoes, Carrots, Apple Pudding, Custard Sauce
Tea: Golden Syrup
Supper: Cheese and salad, Cocoa
