I remember the searchlights. There was a battery on a hill not far away and,at night,
us kids would sit on our bedroom window sills watching the giant beams criss-crossing the night sky. One exciting night, two beams crossed and caught a small silver plane in the light. We opened the window and we could hear the AK-AK guns firing. We cheered but dad鈥檚 head came around the door and ordered us to bed!
