Before the raid that bombed our house we had a shelter in the front room, it was called a Morrison shelter and it was made of very heavy galvanised material. It had thick wire sides like a cage and we had a mattress in there. We never went in it. After the bomb had struck, the Morrison shelter was just a twisted mass. There was so to do after the bombing for my Mum and Dad. We had to go to the WVS for clothes until we were given some more clothing coupons. As time went on, Mum found a rented house and we settled there. Life went on as we got through the next two years.
