I was born in 1933 the youngest of 8,7 boys and 1 girl. When the bombing started in 1940 I along with 2 of my other brothers were evacuated to Northamptonshire, leaving Mum,Dad, my only sister, and another brother at home in Lambeth, three of my other brothers were serving in the Army. On the 22 Sept.we were, along with many others loaded abord trains.like many others to get away from the bombing. Later in the day the rest of my family, Mum Dad brother and sister we ordered to go to the Air Raid shelter.I was told later that the shelter received a direct hit from German bombers, and along with many others all my family were killed. To this day I still bear the scars(not physical) ot this trauma, and I thought that after all these years (and just obtaining a PC)people might be interested in my story. As you can imagine I was only 6 at the time, so I never knew my Parents,Hilda or Alfred, and my children had no Grandparents.
