This is a picture of Dad.
I found this poem among photos and letters from my dad to my mum during the 2nd World War I would like to know if it is a published poem or if my dad wrote it.
In this foreign distant land
I smile through dust and storm
For in my mind I鈥檓 hand in hand
With your near home sweet home
Though joys may come and trouble go
My life is incomplete
For only I shall ever know
How much I miss you sweet
The joys we loved and used to share
Now urge me to relate
How much I need the tender care
Of my true loving mate
Though I strive through blood and toil
Through sorrow grief and strife
It is to keep old England鈥檚 soil
Free for my precious wife
