We had little education in those days. One day we had 13 air raids! We were down the shelters all the time leaving our lessons there! In those days the teachers carried an emergency bag with stories and lessons in there, ready for when the sirens went. the shelter was in the playing field, 2 - 300 years away. 30 students in a class and two teachers went into the shelter. Ir was very disruptive but I enjoyed the war. I was a child and loved seeing the planes doing a victory roll over the aerodrome. I was in the air training corps from 15 and was really keen; it was so glamourous. I just missed was and went into the army in 1946. But I must say that my innocent experience of the war was a happy one.
