Robert was 23 and Doris was 24 when war broke out at the time when war was declared they were on hoilday in yorkshire.At the time of the war they lived in benfleet in Essex during the war they had two children. their ghouse it's self was not bombed but a bomb landed near the house and caused damage they knew people who's houses were bombed it. Doris lived on her own as Robert was in Candia, she worked during the war as a short hand typist but the war made it difficult to get to and form work.

Doris didn't have a boyfriend because she was married to Robert and it wasn't posible for them to meet up as Robert was in candia but also you couldn't go out after dark because of the street riots so you had to be home before dark.When Robert got back from Candia they went to they cinema and they saw Gone with the wind. The sort of clothing they wore was short and tight because of the lack of cloth
