My mother thought that bombs looked like milk bottles because of the shape!
I was at the Blythe School, which was only for girls. On the way to school, if the siren went, you had to get off the bus and go into the nearest shelter straight away. You might have to spend the whole day there, and sometimes we never got to school!
I slept in a beer-cellar during the war, as my parents kept a public house. My father had the cellar reinforced and we had bunk-beds down there. We slept amongst the beer-barrels!
