One of the girls with whom I was very friendly at RAF Ballykelly, Ellie McStay, asked me to get her pass signed, so that she could go home for the weekend on leave to Coleraine. She had asked me to take her pass and get it signed by our WAAF Officer. I forgot to get the pass signed. I didn鈥檛 know what to do and after thinking for a few moments, I forged the Officer鈥檚 signature. I didn鈥檛 tell my girlfriend until she returned from her weekend鈥檚 leave. I said to her, 鈥淚鈥檝e something to tell you, I signed your pass, I forgot to get the WAAF Officer to sign it.鈥 She was flabbergasted, she said to me, 鈥淕eddis, if I had known that I would never have gone home.鈥 I was frightened that the WAAF Officer would discover what I had done, the next time the pass was presented to go on leave again. It never was caught on what I had done.
