Half a dozen of us as youngstes would pinch some "twist" from my father. We used to buy a little pipe.
We got herbal tobacco from the chemist and smoked it in the colliseum and we were very sick.
There used to be fights in the centre of Leicester in 1943 between the white Americans and the black Americans.
The military police would throw them in to 'meat wagons'.
