This story was submitted to the People's War site by CSV/大象传媒 Radio Nottingham on behalf of Mrs Nicholls with her permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

I was 12 when war broke out, I was in a home at the time, in Yorkshire. What I can remember about the war is 3 unexploded bombs in front of the home, to the side of a college. They didn鈥檛 go off which was funny really because there were ones going off all around there. When those ones came so close they rounded us up in buses and we were evacuated to Nottingham. We were evacuated to private houses, we were at a school and from there we were shuffled out to houses. I was with a very nice family.
