i was drafted into the W A A F and transferred to liverpool england i served 5 years and was a teletype operator responsible to send aircraft to cover the ships coming from americawe were located in a building near to the river however the building was largely on top of the ground but when we entered we did not go to top of buildbut went underground which was set up with all units operations.teletype and a lot of brassthe german knew of the unit but when they bombed the building it did not stop our operations. we were billetted in a girls school in hyatt out side liverpool and were bussed to work we worked three shifts. the bombing was very bad in liverpool and needless to say my parents were very aprehensive
