Desert Rats

This is one of my relations and his comrades out in the dessert during WW2. He was a tank driver with I think the 8th Army. Can anyone recognise anyone in the photo or provide anymore information?

With regard to your photograph - I cannot make out the faces, but the person in the middle of the photo with his arms crossed looks very much like a picture that I have of my Dad. Do you know any of the names or nick names of the people in the picture? My fathers nick name was Quink! I think he served in Africa, I know he served in Italy and that at one stage he was trapped behind enemy lines. Kind regards Linda

with regards to the picture of the 8th army lads in the desert my granda also served, my mother has a picture of him on his truck with the name of his wife (my grandmother ) sarah wrote on top his name was Robert Marshall I wonder if he was in the photo that Syke ? sent in. The picture is not so clear but I wonder if anyone knew him.

Thanks for your message. Sorry I haven't replied sooner.

I've been comparing, with the aid of a magnifying glass, the faces in the Desert Rats 8th Army Photo with those in mine but can't place any. Could the location of the photo be Egypt rather than Tunisia? The top of a pyramid is seen just above the photo group.

As regards the name Robert Marshall, I really don't believe I remember my father mentioning that name, and it is not mentioned in what photo records I do have. Sorry.
