When this happened I was about seven, I was living in Harrow, outside North London.
I used to go to bed at night and wonder if I would wake up in the morning - becasue my best friend around the corner was killed by a bomb. And my mother told me "Jesus took her, becasue she was good." So I thought, "Right, I'll be naughty"!
We were also taken outside the see the red in the sky at night, and we were told it was London burning.
I was also shot at by machine gun from a German aeroplane. I was playing the street with my sister, and we were near the Kodak factory and this plane just came down and shot at us. We dashed under a hedge, it didn't help, but we weren't hit.
