I was called up for National Service in 1948 and served my time in Benghazi, and came home in 1949. I was a fireman on the Railway in Paddington when I went back to my job.
During my National Service I had been nursing, and by the time I came out I couldn't settle and re-enlisted in 1951 and trained and qualified as SRN and travelled to many parts of the world.
I went to Germany, Cyprus, Singapore, Malaya to Hongkong and ended up in the Outer Hebridies in Benbecula.
From there I started workin in Llandough Cardiff Royal Infirmary as a Charge Staff Nurse.
In 1986 I had lost the sight in one of my eyes, so consequently I took early retirement and I've worked with the Communith Health Council until April 2005.
For being a Christian and giving to others and serving in Bengazi I was rewarded in my career.
