Location: Cranfield.
Title:Recycling for Victory

I was in the Girl Guides. Grimmers had a shop, a garage in Bedford Road. On our bicycles we had lamps with big batteries. We had to take back old bicycle lamps and when the batteries were handed back we, children took the black stuff that surrounds the battery, clipped that off and took out the 鈥渃arbon rods鈥. These were sent back to the factory to make new batteries. It was probably Ever Ready, but I can鈥檛 really recall.
