I remember one day when our Mam was putting the baby to bed, she fell asleep. Someone came knocking on the door to say she had left the lights on - it was during the blackout — and that she would be taken to court for it. My mother was too frightened to go to court so my father had to go instead — he was fined but I don’t recall how much
