Our Brother Francis Grove a petty Officer Radio Mechanic was commended for unstinted devotion to duty by diving off an the aicraft carrier Empire Mackendrick into rough seas to make a successful rescue of the crew of a crashed aircraft on the 30th May 1945. Francis never talked about his daring rescue, There must have been many other heroic deeds during the war which were never recorded but we are very proud of our Late Brother. His official number was FAA/FX.585445.
