Across the road from our house was a big lorry that had a massive chimney 鈥攖o me it was miles high, but I was only five! They used to send smoke over the important areas so German planes got lost in the smoke and couldn鈥檛 find their target. Because of that, a lot of planes came down elsewhere, and a lot of houses got hit.
