There used to be fire buckets outside the houses on the estate where I lived in Middlemoor. I remember in winter if the water froze over, we tipped them upside down to get the ice, and broke it into chunks and used to crunch on it!
We were called 'The Dead End Kids' because we went round in a group, and we were 3 to 5 years old.
