A lighter story than usual, but typical of how the Army functions on some occasions.
Harry finished his basic training, got kitted out, and shipped-out to France, to Dunkirk!!. He spent a terrifying night and a day on the beach, and was one of the lucky ones who came back. Poor Harry was one of natures timid, and he never really got over it. However he got from Dover to home, burnt his uniform, put his rifle and ammo in the loft, and went back to the factory to his war work! Nobody said anything and the Authorities never queried anything, in fact it was as if nothing had ever happened. The rifle, the only evidence, was handed in when Harry died.
